Hiddink admits he’ll miss managing Chelsea

Guus Hiddink has revealed what he will be doing beyond this season at Chelsea, but admitted that he will “miss” the hands-on training at Cobham the managerial role entails.

Hiddink was drafted in for his second spell at Stamford Bridge back in December, replacing the sacked Jose Mourinho after a nightmarish start to the campaign.

Chelsea had lost nine of their opening 16 Premier League games under Mourinho, leaving them languishing in the bottom half of the table.

Last season’s champions were in a bad state when the Dutchman arrived, but Hiddink has done a more than admirable job steadying the ship in west London, guiding them to mid-table.

Antonio Conte arrives to take charge following this summer’s European Championships with Italy.

Although Hiddink will not be out of work, he has admitted that he will still miss the job at Chelsea, as his second spell at the club comes to an end next weekend.

“I am going into what I like very much, encouraging coaches and young people to give the best to the players,” the Dutchman told reporters.

“I won’t be [at Chelsea] in an official function. I am an advisor of a company that is doing innovation in training methods and accommodation for academies and youth and coaches and education coaches and players.”

“Of course [I will miss it]. I love this club. Every morning when I wake up I go with a smile to Cobham [training ground] and of course I will miss it.”

As for the Blues, they have scored 57 goals and conceded 51 in their 36 Premier League games this season, with a shot accuracy of 46% and an average pass accuracy of 83%. They sit ninth on 48 points following their dramatic 3 -2 defeat at Sunderland on Saturday, 16 adrift of the top four with just two games remaining.

Next up for Chelsea is an away clash at Liverpool on Wednesday night, before Hiddink’s final game in charge against new champions Leicester City at Stamford Bridge next Sunday.
