Hiddink warns Guardiola Premier League not easy like Spain and Germany

Hiddink warns Guardiola Premier League not easy like Spain and Germany

Guus Hiddink has warned Pep Guardiola that he will find the Premier League his toughest challenge yet.

Manchester City confirmed yesterday that Guardiola will be replacing Manuel Pellegrini next term.

The former Spain international has already won 19 major trophies with Barcelona and current club Bayern Munich.

Hiddink believes his appointment is good for the Premier League but insists it will be a lot harder to win trophies in this country.

Chelsea’s interim manager said: “It’s not big news (his appointment), people expected it when he said he was leaving Bayern and was planning to go to Premier League.

“It’s a very attractive league for younger managers, to act here is beautiful. But he will face a different League from what he’s used to.

“You always have domination at the teams where he worked. No-one can achieve what he did, but this is different.

“He will get used to it in England, where there are no specific favourites like in Spain with Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“And in Germany the only one that can be assured to be champion in September is Bayern. It’s different in England but for him, more attractive.”

However with his close friends from his time at Barcelona, Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain, employed as chief executive and director of football respectively at Manchester City, Hiddink doesn’t think he will struggle too much.
