Nigeria international Odion Ighalo has announced the death of his father, Paul Ighalo on twitter, just 24 hours after losing an FA Cup final appearance slot with his Watford FC side to Crystal Palace.
The late Paul Ighalo reportedly died early hours of Monday after he complained of general body weakness, the Super Eagles striker revealed.
“I lost my father early hours of today (Monday), It is a very painful loss.” he wrote via a BBM chat.
Ighalo has scored 16 goals in 35 appearances for Watford this season but it is not immediately clear but expected that the Hornets will grant him compassionate leave to return to Nigeria to be with his family at this time.
Watford are currently placed 11th on the Premier League table and Ighalo has played a starring role in the Hornets first season back in the top-flight.
