Iwobi admits fears over Arsenal exits for Ozil and Sanchez

Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi has admitted it would be a “huge setback” if the Gunners were to lose Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

Both Ozil and Sanchez’s contracts at the club run out at the end of the season and there are doubts whether either will sign a new deal.

Sanchez had been heavily linked with a move away from the club in the summer, with Premier League rivals Manchester City his ideal destination. But Iwobi is hoping Arsenal can keep the pair at the club.

“When they are fit they are unstoppable,” Iwobi told the Sun. “They are both capable of changing a game or a season.

“They have a big decision to make. But it would be a huge setback to lose them because from the stats you can see we do need them for their goals and assists.

“For a team like Arsenal, we need to be aiming for the top four and we need what they bring.”

“It will be great for them to stay. I’ve learnt a lot from them.

“Just the opportunity to even train with them has been amazing. They are two top class players with great experience having played at the top level.”

Sanchez missed the start of the season following doubts over his future but has since reclaimed his place in Arsenal’s starting line up, while Ozil has seen his first team appearances slow due to injuries.

Though Arsenal’s best two players last season, both Sanchez and Ozil have endured slow starts to the current campaign.
