Arsenal attacker Alex Iwobi has admitted to learning one of his skills from popular video game FIFA.
The 20 year-old came to prominence during the second half of the 2015/16 Premier League season, breaking into the Gunners starting XI in March and holding his place for the remainder of the campaign, keeping a number of more experienced teammates on the bench in the process.
One of Iwobi’s finest attributes is his ability to pull of tricks, but many might be surprised to hear he’s been basing his moves from FIFA – although he did also credit the Brazilian Ronaldo for some of the inspiration.
“The skill I showed you earlier,” he told STR Skill School.
“Honestly, I learnt it from FIFA but also from Ronaldo that played for Brazil.”
Iwobi made 13 Premier League appearances for Arsenal in total during their previous campaign, during which he delivered a take on success rate of 67 per cent.
However, it was the Nigeria international’s passing that was equally impressive to fans and the Arsenal management alike, as he completed 85 per cent of his passes, creating 12 chances for the Gunners in the process.
It remains to be seen where Iwobi features in Arsene Wenger’s plans for next season, but with Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil having featured heavily at Euro 2016, the Arsenal boss is likely to ease them back into Premier League action, meaning there could be more chances for Iwobi.
