Joachim Low reveals Schweinsteiger will talk to Mourinho after the Euros

Germany manager Joachim Low has revealed that Bastian Schweinsteiger will talk to new Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho after the European Championships this summer.

Mourinho was appointed as the new United manager last month, signing a three-year contract to replace Louis van Gaal.

Since the appointment, there’s been plenty of speculation as to which members of the current United squad will be kept by Mourinho, and which will be moved on.

Schweinsteiger is one of those who could reportedly be sold, but speaking ahead of his country’s game against Poland tomorrow, Low said he hasn’t discussed transfer stories with the midfielder.

He added that Schweinsteiger appeared relaxed, and expected him to talk to Mourinho after the Euros.

Low said: “I prefer to get my information straight from the horse’s mouth. Bastian and I exchanged thoughts about several things in the past few days but we talked about his position and his fitness. We had no room for transfers in those talks.

“At this point, it does not interest me. Bastian will clarify his situation with his new coach after the European Championships. To me, he appears to be very relaxed.”

In Germany’s opening game at the Euros, Schweinsteiger came off the bench to score on the counter-attack and wrap up a 2-0 win against Ukraine.

They face Poland in their next game knowing that a win will go a long way to securing their qualification into the next round.

Low’s side are currently the reigning world champions, and will be looking to emulate Spain by holding both the World Cup and European Championships at the same time this summer.
