Kane tops Real Madrid’s list of targets to replace Benzema

Real Madrid have made Tottenham striker Harry Kane their first choice to replace Karim Benzema.

The French forward has struggled for Los Blancos this season, scoring just once in La Liga.

Kane has continued his meteoric rise, scoring 13 times in just 14 appearances, including five in the Champions League.

With the England forward five years younger than Benzema, Florentino Perez is keen to acquire the 24-year-old, report Diario Gol.

Though there is trepidation over such a deal due to the notoriously tough negotiating from Daniel Levy.

The report lists Kane’s “market value” at €80m (£71m), though that appears to be wildly optimistic from Madrid’s point of view given Romelu Lukaku could cost Manchester United up to £90m (€102m).

Antoine Griezmann is an alternative with his availability set at €100m and the prospect of edging out rivals Barcelona for one of their top targets could prove highly tempting.

Robert Lewandowski is also named, though the Pole’s similar age to Benzema, combined with a contract in Munich until 2021, make him an expensive option.

A contingency plan has been set should Real miss out on their top three targets, with Juventus star Paulo Dybala highly regarded at the Bernabeu.
