Kante reveals how Conte and Emenalo convinced him to turn down PSG for Chelsea

N’Golo Kante has revealed he turned down a move to Paris St Germain last summer because of the influence of Chelsea’s management team.

After playing a crucial role in Leicester’s remarkable run to the Premier League title Kante had his pick of a host of leading European clubs, with Arsenal also among the suitors for his signature.

Few could argue Kante made the wrong choice in moving to Stamford Bridge, winning his second Premier League title and sweeping the individual awards for player of the year.

It could have been very different for Kante if he had opted to go to PSG, who instead signed Grzegorz Krychowiak from Sevilla, but it appears that manager Antonio Conte technical director Michael Emenalo swung the issue in Chelsea’s favour.

“It’s true that PSG were like other clubs after my good season with Leicester,” he told Le Parisien. “But I chose Chelsea after speaking to the coach and the sporting director. And I don’t regret it.

“What’s more, the league and the style of play in England pleases me.”
