Klopp admits he could retire at Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has hinted that managing Liverpool could be his final job in football, saying that he doe not see himself becoming a “club-hopper” as a coach.

Klopp took charge of the Reds in October 2015 – his third high profile management position in football – and looks set to guide Liverpool back to the Champions League this campaign.

The German’s managerial career has been built on long-term projects rather than short-term fixes. Klopp initially took charge of Mainz in 2001 and left seven years later to manager Borussia Dortmund.

The 49-year-old took a few months out in the summer of 2015 after leaving the Bundesliga side before replacing Brendan Rodgers at Anfield.

Klopp is clearly seen as Liverpool’s manager for the future and the former Dortmund boss has claimed he can’t foresee himself undertaking short term positions during his career.

And the Red’s manager has indicated that he may be done with coaching after his period in charge of Liverpool comes to an end.

Klopp told Sport1 in an interview: “I will not have been in charge of 10 different clubs once my managerial career is over.

“There is a not insignificant chance I will have coached three clubs. I would say it is very unlikely I will become a club- hopper all of a sudden.

“On the contrary, it is always quite easy for me to fully commit to what I am doing because they are often long-term projects.”
