Kompany in danger of missing Euro 2016

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is in danger of missing Euro 2016 this summer with another muscle injury picked up during the defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

Kompany, who has been riddled with injuries this season, hobbled off just eight minutes into their Champions League semi-final second leg against Spanish giants Real Madrid earlier this week and now faces an anxious wait to discover how long his recovery will take.

After several calf injuries this season, this latest one is his groin as the Belgian skipper’s problems don’t seem to get easing off.

According to the Daily Mail, early scans suggest Kompany could face four to six weeks on the sidelines which throws huge doubt into his participation at Euro 2016 with Belgium.

That initial prognosis came yesterday and the Belgian international must hope that it is a cautious one as he will be desperate to represent his country in France this summer.

Belgium’s first game at Euro 2016 is against Italy on June 13th, a game he will miss if he is sidelined for six weeks.

Kompany has already been assured of his place in the Belgian national squad next month by the head coach, Marc Wilmots, but a shadow now hangs perilously above as he and the Red Devils sweat over his fitness.
