Koscielny hails Arsenal target Jamie Vardy

Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny has heaped praise on Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy ahead of his potential move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Vardy had the season of his life this year as he scored 24 goals in the Premier League and starred for the Foxes as Leicester won the league title ahead of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

He was so good this term that Arsene Wenger is convinced he’s the man to improve his attack to properly challenge for the league title next season.

The Gunners have offered Vardy a four-year deal at worth £100,000-a-week, and Koscielny has now spoken in glowing terms of Vardy who is now considering his future while away on international duty.

“Jamie Vardy is hard to play against because he likes to use depth, he’s very good at running behind the defence and in front of goal, he doesn’t think, he feels the goal, as soon as he can shoot, he does,” Koscielny said, via the Evening Standard.

“He’s proved this season with Leicester than he can be a great striker, and he’s scored some goals with England. There will be very good striker during the Euros.”

Vardy has shot to stardom over the past 12 months with a wonderful rise with Leicester, having only made his Premier League debut in the 2014/15 season.

Just five years ago, the England international was playing non-league football with Fleetwood Town after joining from FC Halifax Town.

It was from Fleetwood where he made his move to Leicester, who at the time, were aiming for promotion to the top flight and he’s not looked back since, becoming well-known worldwide for his incredible rags-to-riches story.
