‘Like something from Playstation!’ – Suarez in awe of Messi

Luis Suarez heaped praise on Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi after his virtuoso display against Espanyol on Sunday, comparing him to something out of a video game.

The Argentinian produced two dazzling runs to set up goals for Suarez and Jordi Alba before putting the finishing touches on the 4-1 victory with an impudent finish of his own.

Two dazzling solo runs from Messi helped Suarez – who gave Barca the lead in the first half – and Jordi Alba to score, before he rounded off the match with a sublime finish following Suarez’s clever chipped pass.

And Suarez admits Messi’s role in his second goal was so special that he would have preferred him to finish it off himself rather than score the rebound.

‘The derby games are always beautiful,’ the Uruguayan told Movistar Plus. ‘We won and we played well and we recovered a good feeling.

‘I would have preferred that, rather than scoring the second goal myself, Messi could have finished it after his great piece of play. It’s like something from the Playstation. He’s a unique player.’

And fellow Barca star Andres Iniesta followed suit in describing Messi’s performance.

‘In a collective where everyone is doing well, it’s important that the individual talents – like those of Messi, who is a sensational player – come out and flourish,’ said the Spaniard.

‘It was an intense derby, that’s for sure,’ he said. ‘We played a good game and we’re happy to have won the last league game of the year.

The result lifts the Catalan giants back into second in La Liga, three points behind Real Madrid, who have a game in hand.
