Madrid open contract talks with Bale over deal worth more than £300k a week

Real Madrid have opened talks with Gareth Bale over a new contract and are remarkably prepared to up his current £300,000 a week wages.

The 26-year-old made a world-record move worth £85 million from Tottenham Hotspur to the Santiago Bernabeu back in 2013 and has excelled over the last three years.

While Bale’s time in Spain has largely been hampered by injuries, the Wales international has still managed to play a big role in two Champions League triumphs and a Copa del Rey success.

Bale has managed to carry over his fine form from the second half of the La Liga campaign into the European Championships in France this summer, netting three goals in his four games for Wales so far.

Reports recently filtered out that Real Madrid intended to reward Bale with a new deal and the Telegraph now claim that Los Blancos have officially got talks underway.

Bale is in line for a rise on his £300,000-a-week salary and the aforementioned report reveals that the deal is expected to be officially wrapped up next month, once the Euros are over.

Bale, who has just over three years remaining on his deal in Spain, has proved his doubters wrong since moving to Real Madrid.

There were many who were eager to see the fleet-footed star fail at the Bernabeu, but Bale has overcome those critics and also dismissed suggestions he and Cristiano Ronaldo would struggle to see eye to eye.
