Manchester United 3-2 Arsenal: Mata says Rashford is on fire

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has said that Marcus Rashford is on fire at the moment after the youngster
scored twice during United’s 3-2 victory over Arsenal.

Rashford, 18, has now scored four goals in just two United appearances after he also scored a brace on his debut, on
Thursday against FC Midtjylland in the Europa League.

His performance caps off a truly remarkable week for the youngster and Louis van Gaal deserves a lot of credit for
fielding the youngster rather than turning to the likes of Memphis Depay or Jesse Lingard in the false nine role.

Speaking to the club’s website after the game, Mata praised Rashford and spoke of his pride that the club’s
youngsters were doing so well at the moment.

“Marcus is on fire! He scored two goals against Midtjylland and now again against Arsenal. I’m sure it’s a week
he’ll never forget.

“I feel so proud – I can’t tell you how proud I am of all of them. It’s not easy for young lads to come here and
play well, but the quality they’re showing is great. Obviously, everyone is talking about Marcus and we’re all
delighted for him, but the others who came in to play in defence and midfield were also great. I think today is a
day to be proud of the club and its Academy – we’ve shown the level that we have.”

When the team-sheets were released ahead of the game, few people were giving United any hope at all but their
performance was excellent.

Their defence wasn’t really tested but nevertheless, they were great going forward and really troubled Arsenal.

The likes of Memphis and Guillermo Varela, who have struggled to make impacts for various reason, were both
excellent and there is a real buzz around United at the moment.

The title doesn’t really seem likely at the moment, but United will now feel that they have a great chance of making
it into the top four, with the gap between them and Manchester City now just four points.
