Manchester United favourite to sign Ibrahimovic if Mourinho takes over

Manchester United will be in with a strong chance of signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer if Jose Mourinho takes over from Louis van Gaal.

Ibrahimovic’s contract at Paris Saint-Germain is due to expire at the end of the season and the Sweden international is widely expected to cut end to his days in the French capital.

He isn’t short of suitors either, with a whole host of Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City all being linked to the striker, who turns 35 later this year.

A move to England has eluded him throughout his trophy-glittered career but all roads could now be finally heading to the Premier League, with the Mirror reporting that United’s chances of signing Ibrahimovic will be extremely high should they replace current manager with Mourinho ahead of next season.

The news comes just days after Ibrahimovic himself confirmed interest widespread interest from a number of Premier League clubs, with it looking like the PSG forward will have an abundance of choices to choose from should he leave Paris as expected in the summer.

PSG’s no.10 has been in prolific form in 2015/16, recently scoring in both legs of the round-of-16 Champions League clash to knock Chelsea out of Europe, whilst also netting a whopping 27 times in Ligue 1 as Laurent Blanc’s men wrapped up a fourth consecutive league title with games to spare earlier this month.

Swedish football journalist Olof Lundh stirred the speculation earlier this week by claiming that Ibrahimovic would “like to live in London”, as quoted by Sky Sports, but the temptation of linking up with Mourinho could prove too much to turn down should Van Gaal be given the chop.
