Manchester United holds talks with Pochettino

Manchester United are reportedly in talks with Mauricio Pochettino’s camp over a move for the Tottenham Hotspur manager.

Current Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal is enduring an intense period of pressure at Old Trafford, with many sections of the fan-base disillusioned by both his footballing philosophy and the team’s poor results.

Indeed, United have created just 210 chances in the Premier League this season – a tally bettered by 12 teams. Pochettino’s Spurs, meanwhile, are third in those particular rankings, on 294.

The results have been as equally poor as the performances, with Van Gaal overseeing a mere three wins in his last 12 Premier League fixtures.

Now, United are firmly targeting Pochettino to take over from the Dutchman, according to The Sun.

The report claims that United have already opened dialogue with the Argentinian’s representatives.

However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will seek an incredibly high compensation fee of around £20 million for Pochettino to be released by the London club, the source suggests.

Pochettino has enjoyed a remarkably successful spell since joining the Premier League in 2013, at Southampton.

One of many South American disciples of Marcelo Bielsa, the 43-year-old has embraced the high-energy pressing game of his mentor.

His youthful Spurs side has impressed this term through its consistency, with the Lilywhites conceding a division-low 19 goals.
