Matuidi close to completing £18million Juventus switch

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Blaise Matuidi is joining Juventus in an £18million deal.

The French international has agreed a three-year deal with the Italian champions, and arrived in Turin for a medical on Wednesday afternoon.

Matuidi, 30, joined PSG in 2011 from St Etienne and has won four league titles during his time at the Parc des Princes. He has made 295 appearances for the club, scoring 33 goals.

But Matuidi has fallen down the pecking order under Unai Emery during the last 12 months – the likes of Marco Verratti, Thiago Motta and Adrien Rabiot are all preferred – and is therefore being allowed to depart.

Juventus CEO Giuseppe Marotta and PSG sporting director Antero Henrique met in Monte Carlo to thrash out a deal, before Matuidi was given permission to fly to Italy.

He is now expected to undergo a medical ahead of joining the likes of Federico Bernardeschi, Juan Cuadrado, Douglas Costa and Wojciech Szczesny in signing for Juventus.

Juve begin their Serie A campaign at home to Cagliari on Saturday.
