Mbappe to become Florentino Perez’s latest election year Galactico

Retaining their Galactico status, Real Madrid are set to break the world transfer record with the acquisition of Kylian Mbappe for 180 million euros, a figure that almost equals the money spent on both Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

Beating Pogba’s last summer move to Manchester United by 75m euros, club president Florentino Perez has familiarised himself with record-breaking transfers over the years.

The cost of the 18-year-old striker’s purchase will be equivalent to the total sum of money spent for former Los Blancos stars Zinedine Zidane, Luis Figo and Ronaldo Nazario.

Under the presidency of Perez, Real have managed to break the aforementioned record numerous times already, with the additions of Zidane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Figo.

With Madrid agreeing a deal with Monaco for Mbappe’s 180 million euro move to the Bernabeu, Perez is set to deliver yet another election year Galactico.

Despite the last two elections not even presenting rivals for Perez to battle with, the club president consistently signs a big name star for big money in the poll years.

In 2000, 2004, 2009, and 2013; Luis Figo, Michael Owen, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale respectively moved to Madrid, and 2017 will see Mbappe’s arrival.

Five stars, five world-class talents, five Galacticos and five celebrations of victory for Perez in the elections.Figo’s arrival in 2000 opened the doors for an intake of superstars, with Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo, David Beckham and more all following,

The last signing of this kind was Bale in 2013, and Mbappe will become the latest ‘election gift’ of Perez to Real Madrid and their supporters.
