Mohamed Salah tells Roma he wants to join Liverpool

Roma winger Mohamed Salah has told the club he wants to join Liverpool this summer, according to reports in Italy.

The Egyptian has been identified by Jurgen Klopp as a solution to the Reds’ lack of depth in forward positions and Liverpool have had one bid of around £28million rejected for the attacker.

The 24-year-old left Chelsea for the Italian capital in 2015 and struck an impressive 19 goals in 41 appearances last term.

Liverpool are believed to be meeting with Roma this week for another round of talks and will submit a second bid of around £35m for the Egypt international.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Salah has told Roma that he wants to move to Anfield and hopes for a smooth round of negotiations.

Roma value Salah at closer to £40m but Salah’s admission that he wants to leave could force their hand.

The club’s director of football Monchi confirmed today that an unnamed English club have made a bid for Salah but he insists suitors must meet the club’s valuation.

‘There’s an offer from an English club for Momo (Salah) but Roma sets his price,’ said Monchi.
