Moses: Conte said he enjoy watching me play and don’t want me to go

Victor Moses has revealed that Antonio Conte told him during pre-season that he would finally be given a chance to rebuild his career with Chelsea.

The winger joined the west London outfit in the 2012 summer transfer window while Roberto Di Matteo was in charge and, after helping them win the Europa League in his first season, he spent the entire 2013/14 campaign on loan at rivals Liverpool.

Two more loan spells followed with Stoke City and West Ham United in the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons respectively and it looked that his career in west London was over, but after returning for pre-season training, he was presented a chance to prove himself to Conte.

Moses has now revealed a discussion he and the Italian during the summer which led to him receiving more first-team opportunities.

“The manager came to me and said, ‘I feel that you’re working hard, I really enjoy watching you play and I don’t want you to go out on loan’,” Moses said, via ESPN FC.

“When he said that to me I was really pleased. To be honest, I just want to go out there, enjoy my football and work hard for him. He’s played the game before, he understands it and he understands how players feel.”

Moses started the season as back-up to the likes of Willian, Eden Hazard and Pedro on the wings but could now become a regular in the side now that Conte has made a big change tactically.

The former Italy national team manager reverted to his favoured three at the back for the 3-0 win over Leicester City last weekend and used Moses as wing-back where his pace down the flanks was useful for not only getting forward as he scored the final goal of the game but tracking back too.
