Mourinho charged with ‘improper conduct’ by FA

Jose Mourinho has been hit with an FA charge over his latest outburst during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with West Ham on Sunday.

Mourinho has been charged with misconduct by the FA after kicking a water bottle in frustration when Paul Pogba was booked for diving.

Mourinho has already been fined and suspended within the last six weeks for two separate offences and faces a two-match touchline ban if the charge is upheld.

The United boss has until 6pm on Thursday to respond, which means he will be in the dug-out for Wednesday’s EFL Cup clash with West Ham at Old Trafford.

However, the Portuguese will have to watch Manchester United’s clash with Everton on Sunday.

Mourinho will be in the directors’ box at Goodison Park on Sunday and also faces watching United’s home match against Tottenham on December 11 from the stands.

The FA said in a statement: “Jose Mourinho has been charged following Manchester United’s game against West Ham United on Sunday [27 November 2016].

“It is alleged his behaviour in or around the 27th minute of the game amounts to improper conduct.

“He has until 6pm on 1 December 2016 to respond to the charge.”

United defender Phil Jones has defended his manager, claiming he was just showing his passion when Paul Pogba was booked by referee Jon Moss for diving on Sunday.

“I think that’s just passion,” he said. “I like to see that from anyone – players, staff. It’s passion for the game and a willingness to win.

“We all want to win just as much as each other.”
