Mourinho Reveals the two Man Utd players who have made him very proud

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has revealed how proud he was following the recent international call-ups of both Ander Herrera and Jesse Lingard.

Herrera was included in Spain’s senior squad for the first time in his career following injuries to Thiago Alacantara and Saul Niguez ahead of the side’s World Cup qualifiers against Italy and Albania.

Meanwhile, England interim boss Gareth Southgate named United winger Lingard in his party for the Three Lions’ matches against Malta and Slovenia.

The 23-year-old started in the 2-0 victory over Malta at Wembley and also played from the off in a goalless draw at the Stozice Stadium.

On Herrera and Lingard’s call-ups, Mourinho said: ‘I like my players to go to the international teams.

‘I know that other managers don’t like it. I know that other managers they even try to stop them to go. I know there is sometimes also a bit of a fake injury to stop people to go.

‘I’m not like that. I’m always very proud of my players to be selected.

‘And especially these two that you refer to. One was a debutant, the other was a call-up to the Spanish team.

‘It’s obviously important for them and it’s good for me and I think also the club feels proud of it.’
