Mourinho told his Man United stars exactly how Chelsea win would unfold at half-time

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho impressed his squad by perfectly predicting how their win against Chelsea would unfold at half-time during Sunday’s clash.

Mourinho’s men completed a morale-boosting 2-0 win against the Blues at Old Trafford when the Portuguese boss outwitted Antonio Conte.

United had a 1-0 lead going into the interval and Mourinho told his squad that the visitors were on the ropes at the Theatre of Dreams.

According to the Daily Mail, Mourinho urged his team to grab a quick second goal and said Conte would then bring on Cesc Fabregas and move the Spaniard into attacking midfield.

Mourinho is then said to have told his team that Michael Carrick will come on to replace Jesse Lingard at this point to restore United’s man-to-man marking all over the pitch.

The 54-year-old was lauded for his tactics against his old side and Ander Herrera was handed the man of the match award for marking Eden Hazard out of the game.

United played a 3-5-2 against the league leaders with the energetic pairing of Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard causing Chelsea problems in attack.

Despite their win, the Red Devils remain outsiders to make the top four and will likely have to rely on their Europa League campaign if they’re to play Champions League football next term.

Their transfer business is likely to be heavily impacted by their failure to do so.
