Mourinho urges Man United to help postpone his Chelsea return in October

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wants to postpone his return toStamford Bridge so his current squad can fully recover from their EuropaLeague excursions.

Chelsea are due to host United on Sunday 23 October, less than 72 hours aftera fixture in the Europa League.

According to The Times, Mourinho feels aggrieved that his new side will have to rush their recovery whereas his former team will enjoy a break of more than a week before the game.

Mourinho has expressed his concerns with the hierarchy at Old Trafford but the club are seemingly resigned t0 playing the fixture on the 23rd.

Due to Untied playing on Thursday night, the Premier League have already moved the game from Saturday to Sunday and it would be unprecedented for them to alter the fixture further.

The Portuguese wants the game in West London to be moved to the following Monday but this would not be possible due to League Cup fixtures.

Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea last December as his second spell in charge of the club ended in sour disappointment.

Amid reports of a player mutiny and a prolonged court case with club doctor Eva Carneiro, the defending Premier League champions failed miserably to defend their title, spending much of the season in the bottom half of the table.

It seems Mourinho is now desperate to make a point to his former employers and wants to take a well-rested squad for his first return to the Bridge.
