Mourinho’s £60million Man United deal to make him highest paid manager in history

Jose Mourinho will become the highest paid Premier League manager in history when he takes over at Manchester United this summer.

The Portuguese has a deal in place to replace Louis van Gaal at the end of this season.

And he will pocket £60million over three years at Old Trafford, according to the Sun.

Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea in December with the club just one point above the relegation zone.

But United want him to bring the glory days back to the club after a difficult spell since Sir Alex Ferguson left.

David Moyes was sacked after less than a year at the helm and while Van Gaal took them back into the Champions League he has struggled in his second season.

This year they were knocked out of Europe, first by Wolfsburg in the Champions League group stages, and then by Liverpool in the Europa League.

And now they face a fight to make the top four again as they trail Arsenal by five points.

They do have a game more to play (four) and are also in the FA Cup final.

The Sunday Express reported Mourinho had signed an agreement to become United boss and that an announcement was coming soon.

And the Sun claim a fresh development in the last 48 hours has moved the deal even closer.
