Jose Mourinho was met by Sir Bobby Charlton on his first visit to Manchester United’s training complex since being appointed their new boss.

Mourinho was given a guided tour of the AON Training Complex by United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward before familiarising himself with his new home and meeting staff.

The Special One checked into his new office, recently vacated by Louis van Gaal, and cast his eye over the facilities under the watchful eye of Charlton and Woodward, the man who appointed him.

United legend Charlton said to Mourinho “I’m very happy to see you” as he said “congratulations” to the new man in charge.

The Portuguese boss, 53, signed a three-year deal to take charge at Old Trafford last Friday, understood to be worth £15million-a-year.

And he toured the facilities ahead of his official starting date as Van Gaal’s successor.

Mourinho will meet the players for the first time on July 7 before they head out for their summer pre-season tour of China 12 days later.

But he spent several hours at the club’s multi-million pound AON training complex on Bank Holiday Monday.

In took in all the sights, including his new day-to-day office at Carrington which overlooks United’s first-team training pitch.

He posed for pictures with United’s official club photographer, John Peters, and greeted other club officials before leaving the complex later in the afternoon.

Mourinho’s wife Matilde – who has the same name as their daughter – also shared an image of her husband clutching a Manchester United-branded bag of goodies on her Twitter account.

Mourinho, 53, officially takes charge on July 7, when United return for pre- season training, but is already working on transfer targets with Woodward.

Those include Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Mario, Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez and Everton’s John Stones.
