Neymar set release his single this week as he kickstarts music career

Barcelona star Neymar, who recently won gold with his team at the Rio Olympics, has revealed that he will be releasing his debut single.

Following the likes of Brazilian footballing legend Pele and Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, Neymar is set to release his first track just weeks after his 75-year-old fellow countryman did.

In July Brazil’s all time top goal scorer wrote a ballad by the name of Esperanca (meaning hope) and is believed to be in the process of constructing an album.

The 24-year-old wrote on Twitter: “Friends, on Wednesday I will begin my music career and will launch my first song on Facebook. We will get #Neymusico on stage, spread the word.”

Having written the song himself, Neymar is expected to release it on Wednesday.

Neymar is a tormentor of defenders by trade but is also often found at gigs in his home country, and has a particular interest in the samba-derived ‘pagodas’ style of music.

He has also been taking to social media in order to reveal the fact that he has been taking piano lessons, while giving fans and glimpse of what they can expect from his latest off-the-field exertions.
