“Why not play Sanchez behind Giroud?” – Henry

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes that Arsene Wenger can solve his attacking dilemma by playing Alexis Sanchez in the number 10 role behind Olivier Giroud.

Sanchez has been sensational for Arsenal so far this season as their main striker and has hit six goals in the Premier League to sit top of their scoring charts.

The Chilean scored twice against Sunderland but Giroud also scored two goals after coming off the bench and now Arsene Wenger has a selection dilemma on his hands.

Many have wondered since Saturday if Wenger will push Sanchez back out wide to accommodate Giroud, but Henry has suggested the Chilean could drop into the No.10 role instead.

“At the beginning of the season I said I would play them both [Giroud and Sanchez] up front because you can still play around the Arsenal way, but you can also play long when Giroud is there,” Henry said on Sky Sports.

“As soon as Olivier came on [against Sunderland], Alexis Sanchez went on the left. Why not play Sanchez behind Giroud?”

Moving Sanchez to the position in behind Giroud – where Antoine Griezmann operated at Euro 2016 – would cause a problem with Mesut Ozil, though.

The German is by far the Gunners’ most creative talent and he has shone on the goalscoring front at number 10 this season too, scoring six goals in eight games.
