Owen criticises Ibrahimovic performance for Man United

Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen has criticised Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘s lack of movement by stating that he “just stands a lot.”

Ibrahimovic scored the Red Devils’ only goal in their 1-0 win over Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League last night but Owen was less than impressed with the striker’s overall performance.

The former Liverpool, Man United and Real Madrid forward criticised his display and his lack of movement in attack.

Owen felt that Ibrahimovic didn’t move much and didn’t give his teammates many options, stating that the Swede “just stands a lot”.

“His movement disappoints me a bit,” Owen said on BT Sport. “He just stands a lot. Because of his height he gets away with it.

“There was no movement from him. He just tends to stand at the back post and wait for the ball. There were a few crosses tonight and he stayed in the same position.”

Ibrahimovic has had a decent start to life at Man United in terms of goals, having scored his six goals in all competitions from 10 appearances in total.

The Swedish forward has scored four times in six Premier League games and two in four across cup competitions, but Owen would like to see more movement from the four-time Ligue 1 winner.
