Ozil hits back at Henry over his Arsenal contract dilemma

Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has hit back at club legend Thierry Henry, saying that the Frenchman doesn’t know what’s happening with his contractual situation.

Ozil’s current deal expires in the summer of 2018 and Henry recently accused the German, along with Alexis Sanchez, who also has the same amount of time remaining on his contract, of holding the club “hostage” over their wage demands.

As reported by the Guardian, Ozil has now responded, and said: “Ex-players or other people who have a view don’t know what is actually being said between me and the club.”

Ozil has received a considerable amount of criticism for some of his recent performances, most notably in the defeats to Manchester City and Everton last month.

However, he has produced some excellent displays at times this campaign, and, while he hasn’t provided assists with as much regularity as he previously did, Ozil has become an increased threat in front of goal himself, scoring nine times across all competitions.

Ozil has missed Arsenal’s last three games through illness but could return when the Gunners face Swansea City away next weekend.
