Pato: Chelsea move is a dream

Brazilian forward Alexandre Pato has said that moving to Chelsea is a dream, and he can’t wait to put the shirt on for the first time.

Pato joined Chelsea on loan during the January transfer window, and it’s a second chance for him in Europe after injuries wrecked his spell at AC Milan.

Speaking to the club’s official website about his move, Pato spoke about how supportive the fans have been and that it really is a dream for him.

“When I go to my social media, the fans of Chelsea welcome me to the club, this, for me, is special. I thought before, the dream [has come] true. I am here just to [realise] my dream, just to play. To put the shirt of Chelsea on is the best thing,” he said.

Many fans were surprised to see Pato join Chelsea, but given the available options at a good price in the January window, the 26-year-old Brazilian could turn out to be a good signing by the Blues.

The task is now to get him up to full fitness, with interim boss Guus Hiddink admitting in his press conference ahead of the Watford game that Pato may not be physically ready yet.

The advantage of signing Pato is that he can play on the left, perhaps his best position, and in the No.10 role, as well as up front.

That means he can play in tandem with Diego Costa rather than taking the place of the Spaniard in the Chelsea first-team.
