Pedro has admitted he doesn’t know if Chelsea team-mate Diego Costa will stay at the club over the summer transfer window.
Costa was the Blues’ top goalscorer last season with 12 Premier League strikes, but with new manager Antonio Conte set to take over after Euro 2016 there is some uncertainty over the forward’s future.
Chelsea endured a disappointing campaign last season, finishing 10th after a miserable run of nine losses from their first 16 games under Jose Mourinho, and Pedro and his team-mates now don’t know what the future holds for Costa.
“We don’t know [if he is leaving], but for us it would be a huge loss,” he told Mundo Deportivo.“We want him to stay and we are going to see what happens with him.”
Costa, who earns £185,000 a week according to the Telegraph, enjoyed an excellent first season after joining from Atletico Madrid in 2014, as he managed 20 league goals in just 26 appearances to help Mourinho’s side to the title.
But he often looked unmotivated and unhappy during the first half of last season, as Mourinho struggled to turn things around.
The Portuguese manager was sacked in December following a 2-1 loss to Leicester City and Guus Hiddink’s arrival as interim manager did inspire an upturn in form for both the Spanish international and the team as a whole.
An unbeaten run in the Premier League stretching from December to April put them back on track somewhat, but the lack of any European football next season could tempt the 27-year-old to leave.
Conte will face a difficult task next season in keeping the best players currently at the club, bringing in new faces and challenging for the league title in his first season at the club.
