Sergio Ramos is certainly dedicated to the Real Madrid cause, taking his girlfriend to watch the club’s basketball team face El Clasico rivals Barcelona.

Ramos, enjoying the La Liga winter break, posted a picture on his Instagram account alongside his partner who is a Spanish TV reporter.

The defender added, ‘Great basketball evening with@pilarrubio_oficial. ¡Vamos! #HalaMadrid.’

Unfortunately for the couple, who have two sons together, they could not inspire a Madrid victory as rivals Barcelona secured a 91-84 victory to leap-frog Los Blancos to second in Liga Endesa.

That’s a familiar sight for Ramos this season as Luis Enrique’s side remain top of La Liga, two points clear of Real Madrid and with a game in hand.
Rafa Benitez’s side will hope to build on their emphatic 10-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano before Christmas.

However speculation over Benitez’s future continues to mount after last month’s 4-0 El Clasico defeat against Barcelona and the 1-0 loss against Villarreal in the previous league game.

As a result former Bernabeu boss Jose Mourinho keeps being linked to a return to the Spanish capital.
Before Christmas, Ramos defended Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese forward appeared to gesture at the Real Madrid fans who were whistling with discontent in the demolition of Rayo Vallecano.

‘Sometimes players are free to express their feelings. He (Ronaldo) always says what he thinks,’ added the 29-year-old.
Real were 2-1 down against their mid-table opponents in their last match at the Bernabeu and the fans were voicing their frustration before their side came back to record a resounding 10-2 triumph.

‘People single you out when they think you’re not giving your all. When they see you giving it all you have they don’t get on your case,’ said Ramos.
‘If you’re losing to Rayo after 10 minutes in the Bernabeu, they get on top of you and try to get a reaction out of the players. When we needed support most from the fans we got whistles, sometimes you need a little love.’
