Pogba: Liverpool clash means more to Man Utd than the Manchester derby

Games against Liverpool mean more to Manchester United than the derbies against Manchester City, according to Paul Pogba.

Whilst the two Manchester clubs share a rivalry simply because of their geographical locations, there has always been a feeling that clashes with the Merseyside giants are on another level simply because of the success both teams have had domestically as well as in Europe.

It’s a view that is shared by Pogba, who placed the rivalry with the Reds higher than that of United’s with their neighbours at the Etihad Stadium when speaking on BBC’s ‘The Premier League Show’ ahead of Sunday’s clash at Old Trafford.

“Big derby – more than Man City I think, because the way you feel the atmosphere,” Pogba revealed.

“I want the three points. It’s good to win three points against Stoke City or any team in the league.

“But you have more taste when you win three points against Liverpool, because it’s the derby.”

After returning to the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ for a world record transfer fee in the summer, Pogba got his first taste of a competitive North-West derby in the reverse meeting at Anfield earlier in the season which finished goalless.

However, both the Frenchman as well as the Red Devils have improved considerably since then. Pogba has netted three goals and weighed in with the same number of assists, while United have lost just once in the league since visiting Anfield and go into Sunday’s game on the back of nine straight victories across all competitions.
