PSG send five-page letter to Uefa slamming referee’s performance in Barcelona defeat

Paris Saint-Germain have sent a five-page letter of complaint to Uefa after their shocking 6-1 defeat to Barcelona at the Nou Camp.

The historic comeback by Barcelona in the second leg of their Champions League tie has rocked PSG and their supporters.

Reports in Spain claim Uefa themselves are unhappy with the performance of their referee, Deniz Aytekin and that the German could now be demoted from officiating Champions League games.

Aytekin awarded a controversial penalty in the final minute of normal time when Luis Suarez went down under a challenge to take Barcelona to within a goal of completing an unlikely comeback.

PSG have hired former referees and experts to analyse the game and the panel have delivered a damning report of errors committed by Aytekin.

The French champions have sent that dossier along with the five-page letter asking Uefa to assure them another similar display from one of their referees will not be repeated.

PSG claim eight major mistakes, including three controversial penalty decisions, swayed the game in Barcelona’s favour.

Luis Suarez won the late penalty, while another penalty decision went against PSG when Angel di Maria was clearly fouled in the box.

Aytekin is also accused of being influenced by the Barcelona players and the stature of their club, according to the Telegraph.

PSG are not demanding Aytekin be demoted or that the game should be replayed, the side are merely urging Uefa to avoid future mistakes in high profile games.

The dossier includes video clips of an apparent stamp by Neymar on PSG’s Marquinhos and two offences committed by Gerard Pique including a shirt pull and handball.
