Ramos blasts Madrid’s disappointing early season La Liga form: ‘It is a f****** bad start’

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has been left fuming by his side’s disappointing start to the new La Liga campaign.

Madrid fell to a 1-0 defeat by Real Betis at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night as Antonio Sanabria netted a stoppage-time winner for the visitors, leaving them already seven points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona after just five matches.

Wednesday’s defeat means Zinedine Zidane’s side have failed to win any of their opening three home La Liga fixtures and Ramos was left seething following the match.

‘It’s a f****** bad start,’ Ramos said after the match. ‘It’s concerning and alarming, as [this bad start at home] has included games against opponents that we would normally beat at the Bernabeu.

‘But we must move on, be self-critical and think about the next games. We are the same players who were winning titles a month ago.

‘We have to be united and think of ourselves, but there is a great team here and there are no excuses.

‘I don’t know why it’s so hard for us to score at the Bernabeu. The minutes passed but the goal did not come and it was difficult. We created the chances, but we just missed the goal.’

Madrid will be desperate to return to winning ways when they face Alaves, who currently sit 19th in the table with zero points, on Saturday afternoon.

Following that encounter, Madrid face Borussia Dortmund away in the Champions League next Tuesday night.
