Redknapp: Hazard has saved himself for Euro 2016

Former England midfielder Jamie Redknapp thinks that Chelsea forward Eden Hazard has saved himself this season for the European Championships where he could be set to star for Belgium.

Hazard went almost a full year without scoring a goal in the Premier League but finished the campaign in good form with four goals in Chelsea’s last five matches.

The Belgian didn’t score a single goal in any competition for the first half of the season, instead waiting until an FA Cup game against MK Dons earlier this year to finally find the net.

He has been hampered by injuries and a huge loss of form but the real Eden Hazard looked to be back to his best towards the end of the campaign, and Redknapp thinks he may have saved himself for a big summer.

“Having failed to hit the heights for most of the season for Chelsea, he burst into life with five games to go and it almost seems like he has been saving himself for this tournament,” Redknapp wrote in the Daily Mail.

“Belgium have a number of players such as Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku who have the X Factor but given his stunning end to the season I have a feeling Hazard will star at this tournament.”

Belgium are one of the favourites to lift the European Championships this summer as their squad is ridiculously talented and packed full of Premier League stars.

Aside from Hazard, the Red Devils have Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, Divock Origi, Christian Benteke, Toby Alderweireld, Thibaut Courtois and Jan Vertonghen. There are many more big talents in the squad too which is precisely why they could do so well.

But Hazard is one of the handful of players that Redknapp has picked out that could shine in France.
