REPORT: Man Utd ask Mourinho to wait a year before replacing Van Gaal

JOSE MOURINHO has reportedly been asked to wait for a year before replacing Louis van Gaal as Manchester United manager, reports Daily Express.

Former Chelsea boss Mourinho has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

But Van Gaal declared he will be in charge of the Red Devils next season after Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Premier League champions Leicester.

According to the Sun, United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward does not want to get rid of Van Gaal just yet.

And he has asked Mourinho to wait a year before replacing the Dutchman.

Woodward had hoped the Portuguese would opt for a lucrative 12-month spell in the Chinese Super League ahead of a move to Old Trafford.

However Mourinho wants to be back in football this summer, and does not want to wait much longer before getting back to work.
