Ronaldo “100%” fit for the Champions League final after injury scare

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has delighted many of the club’s supporters today, after confirming that he will be “100%” fit for the Champions League final this weekend.

The 31-year-old was pictured hobbling out of training on Tuesday morning, after colliding with goalkeeper Kiko Casilla during the club’s open session in front of the media.

Ronaldo was seen in pain and attempting to stretch his left thigh afterwards, which instantly prompted widespread panic on social media sites.

The Portugal international missed two of the last four La Liga games of the season due to a thigh injury sustained in a recent win over Villarreal.

However, speaking after the club’s training session on Tuesday and ahead of the final in Milan on Saturday, Ronaldo insisted that the little knock he took was nothing to be worried about.

“I had a small snack in training but I’m fine and I’ll be perfect on Saturday,” Ronaldo told the club’s official website. “In a couple of days I’ll be 100%.

“It would be nice to achieve the record (win an 11th European Cup) but it is something that comes naturally. The most important thing is to win. The fans are with us and support us as in recent games to return to be a magical night.”

The former Manchester United superstar is the Champions League’s top goalscorer this season with 16 to his name, while his presence at the weekend will most certainly be crucial to the club’s hopes of success.

Ronaldo’s creativity is also vital to Zinedine Zidane’s side, with Toni Kroos the only Los Blancos player (30) to create more chances in Europe this season than Ronaldo (22).

Real Madrid will be hoping to replicate their Champions League final success against Atletico Madrid from 2014 when they face Diego Simeone’s side on Saturday.
