Ronaldo breaks another incredible La Liga record

Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first player to score over 30 La Liga goals in a calendar year for seven years in a row.

The Portuguese hit the milestone with his brace against Sporting Gijon on Saturday, which helped Real Madrid to win 2-1 against the relegation fighting side.

The 31-year-old now has ten goals in 15 appearances in all competitions this season, in addition to six assists for his teammates.

This has helped Los Blancos to a seven point lead at the top of La Liga, ahead of Barcelona and Sevilla’s games in hand on the leaders.

It isn’t the first record that Ronaldo has broken this campaign either, having recently become the highest ever scorer in Madrid derbies after netting a hat trick against Atletico Madrid last week.

He also extended his record of the most total La Liga hat tricks with that performance, moving on to 32 since he joined Real in 2009.

With El Clasico up next for Madrid in the top flight, the former Manchester United star will be hoping to continue his great form in to one of the team’s biggest matches of the season.
