Ronaldo reaches 40 goals for the seventh straight season

Cristiano Ronaldo’s second-minute strike in Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Malaga not only helped secure the title but also saw the Portuguese forward make more history.

Ronaldo finished coolly after being played through by Isco, meaning he has now scored 40 goals in all competitions in seven consecutive seasons.

With 25 in La Liga, 10 in the Champions League, four in the Club World Cup, and one in the Copa del Rey, Ronaldo is the first Los Blancos player to reach that tally in so many seasons.

Only during his first campaign at the club did the Madeira native fail to reach the 40-goal mark.

His final day strike also means he has maintained his record of scoring at least 25 goals in all eight of his seasons in the Spanish top flight.

The goal was not only a landmark one for the reigning World Player of the Year but also the team as a whole, as it means they have scored in all 38 La Liga matches for the first time in their history.

A goal against Juventus in the Champions League final on June 3 would mean Zinedine Zidane’s men have found the net in every single match in all competitions this season.
