Ronaldo says forgetful people always doubt him after playing 90mins against Man City

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has said that he thinks that people always doubt him, and that they appear to forget how quickly he can recover.

Ronaldo missed the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Manchester City with a thigh injury and there were doubts over whether or not he would be able to play.

However having barely trained in 15 days Ronaldo was able to start in the second-leg and completed the full 90 minutes.

Speaking to BT Sport after Real’s 1-0 win over City, to go through to the final, Ronaldo said that he feels that people should remember his recovery speed.

“It was good! I was out for 15 days and I didn’t do much and played today. People always doubt me, people forget I recover fast. I am tired but I am happy to help the team.”

Ronaldo was also asked about City and facing Atletico Madrid in the final. He said: “It was a tough game but I think we played better than [Man] City, we created more chances in the first half and second half.

“It will be tough. In a final you never know what will happen as its 50/50 but it’s a special Champions League final”

Everyone who has worked with Ronaldo throughout his career has spoken about his incredible work-ethic and how well he looks after himself, so really his recovery should come as no surprise.

Ronaldo may not have scored during the game but his work-rate during the game was admirable and he played a key role in pushing City back and forcing Joe Hart to kick long.

By contrast a number of City players were lacklustre off the ball and as a result Real were able to pass their way forward.

Ronaldo has been in incredible form this season, having scored 31 goals in 34 games this season.
