Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo sent Neymar a congratulatory WhatsApp message last week after Barcelona won a second successive La Liga.
Luis Enrique’s Barcelona side put Granada to the sword on the final day of the season at the Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes, winning 3-1 thanks to a hat- trick from Luis Suarez.
That ensured that despite Real Madrid winning at Deportivo La Coruna, it was Barcelona who secured another La Liga triumph by just one point.
Whilst Real Madrid players may have expectedly been reeling from coming so close to getting their hands on the league crown, it seems one man in particular was happy to congratulate their rivals.
Sport have revealed that sources close to Neymar state that Ronaldo sent the 24-year-old a message on WhatsApp to congratulate the Brazil international on his success.
The report goes on to state that Ronaldo was “polite and affectionate” in his message, which is certainly a nice touch from the 31-year-old three-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Ronaldo, to add further salt into his wounds, missed out on the Pichichi trophy – the award for La Liga’s top goalscorer – after Suarez netted a remarkable 40 goals in his 35 top-flight matches this campaign.
