Ronaldo: Zidane arrival has led to the best period of my Real Madrid career

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has thanked manager Zinedine Zidane for helping him reach even greater heights than before.

The 31-year-old Portuguese star is regarded as open of the finest players of his time, but struggled under Rafa Benitez during the Spaniard’s short reign in charge of Real Madrid.

However, it has been quite the contrary under Benitez’s successor, Zidane, who has worked wonders in just over a year as manager of Los Blancos.

Real Madrid have won the Champions League, Super Cup and Club World Cup under Zidane, with Ronaldo playing big roles in those triumphs – most notably netting the winner against Atletico last year.

The former Manchester United star also won the Ballon d’Or last month – for a career fourth time – and after being crowned Fifa’s best player on Monday, Ronaldo took time out to thank his manager.

“Yes, it is the best moment since I arrived in Madrid and also with the Portugal team, which I can not forget” Ronaldo told COPE, when asked about Zidane’s impact on his career. “And obviously, on an individual level too. So, I’m in the best moment of my career and very happy.”

Ronaldo is Real Madrid’s top goalscorer this season with 11 goals in 12 league games and has helped Zidane’s side fly to the top of the La Liga table.
