Salah pulls clear from Harry Kane in Premier League Golden Boot race

Harry Kane’s return to the top of the Premier League goal-scoring charts on Tuesday night was short-lived after Mo Salah continued his electric form for Liverpool.

Kane would have been forgiven for thinking Jurgen Klopp’s decision to bench the Egyptian superstar at Stoke had given him a reprieve for the week.

Kane had scored for Spurs in their 2-1 defeat by Leicester to take his personal tally level with Salah on 10 for the season.

But Salah, who replaced Dominic Solanke after 67 minutes, scored two in the space of five minutes to pull two goals clear.

His first came from a sublime left-footed volley from a pinpoint Sadio Mane cross before his second came from a combination of speed and tenacity to beat Erik Pieters to a lofted long ball.

Salah isn’t just lighting up the Premier League with his goal scoring.

Salah isn’t just lighting up the Premier League with his goal scoring.

Of the top 10 scorers in the top flight, his 87 minutes per goal is the most efficient of any player – on par with Sergio Aguero, who was unable to add to his nine goals for the season in Man City’s 2-1 win over Southampton on Wednesday night.

Anthony Martial is raking in a goal for every 85 minutes he plays but his six for the season puts him at 12th. Everton’s Oumar Niasse, with five goals for the season, is scoring every 76 minutes he play.

Salah’s shots on target percentage is also among the best in the league, with his 70 per cent from 43 shots only beaten by Man City’s Gabriel Jesus (25 shots at 72 per cent for eight goals) and Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette (21 shots at 71 per cent for seven goals).
