Schweinsteiger’s big brother hits out at Manchester United

Bastian Schweinsteiger’s older brother Tobi isn’t impressed with the treatment of the World Cup-winning German by Manchester United.

Schweinsteiger has been told by Jose Mourinho that he isn’t part of his plans for the new era at Old Trafford and banished to train with the club’s reserves.

The veteran midfielder was left at home for the weekend’s 5-2 win over Galatasaray and United are looking for a potential suitor so they can cash in on the former Bayern Munich midfielder.

After reports of Bastian being out of favour spread on Monday, Tobi, who is Bayern under-17s assistant manager, appeared to hit out at the club on social media.

“No respect,” Tobi Schweinsteiger posted on Twitter.

The news will have hit the Schweinsteigers even harder as Monday was Bastian’s 32nd birthday.

Tobi and Bastian are especially close, with the older posting “Happy birthday to my best friend in the world” on Facebook earlier in the day with a picture of the pair wearing tuxedos.

Schweinsteiger was expected to bring steal and poise to United’s midfield when he arrived under Louis van Gaal last season but his season was ruined by injuries.

As Mourinho looks to move Bastian on this summer, United fans are waiting with bated breath for the much anticipated transfer arrival of Paul Pogba from Juventus in a massive £100m deal.
