Smalling heading for Man United exit after growing ‘disillusioned’ with life under Mourinho

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling could be set to leave the club this summer with Jose Mourinho ready to bring in a replacement for the centre-back.

Mourinho has publicly criticised Smalling on three or four occasions this season and questioned the defender’s bravery when injured last month.

The 27-year-old feels his confidence has been knocked by Mourinho’s outbursts and believes his performances could improve elsewhere.

Mourinho is keen on signing Burnley ace Michael Keane and, according to the Daily Mail, his arrival could see Smalling leave Old Trafford.

Keane, 24, has one year left on his deal at Turf Moor and the Clarets want around £25million for the England international.

United let Keane join Burnley in 2014 but included a 25% sell-on fee in the deal, meaning any move for the defender this summer will be reduced.
