Wojciech Szczesny has claimed he has learned more in the past four months of his loan spell at Roma than he did in 10 years at Arsenal.
The 26-year-old was shipped out by Arsene Wenger in the summer after Petr Cech’s arrival shunted him down to third in the Gunners’ goalkeeping pecking order, behind Cech and David Ospina.
Szczesny is first choice at Roma and has previously said he is open to remaining with the Serie A side beyond the end of his loan spell.
Speaking to Italian newspaper Il Tempo, Szczesny cited manager Luciano Spalletti, who returned to Roma in January, as the main reason behind his improvement at the Stadio Olimpico.
“I know where I will play next year, but I can’t reveal it yet,” he said.
“If I stay at Roma, it’ll be an opportunity to grow and improve even more. If I return to Arsenal, I’ll make use of my experience in Italy.
“I learnt more in four months under Spalletti than in 10 years in England. He puts a lot of importance on details and wants the goalkeeper to be able to play the ball with his feet.”
Szczesny’s current Arsenal contract will expire in 2018 but it is unclear if he has a future back at the north London club.
