Victor Moses: I’m excited to be in Chelsea’s XI

Victor Moses has spoken of his joy at finally being a part of the Chelsea starting XI after various loan spells at Premier League clubs.

The Nigerian international had only played 20 league games since signing in 2012 for the Blues before Antonio Conte arrived in the summer.

Since then the former Wigan Athletic and Crystal Palace winger has been operating as a wing-back in the Italian’s 3-4-3 formation that has seen them rise to the Premier League summit following their 1-0 win over Middlesbrough.

Moses spoke to Sky Sports, as reported by BBC Sport, after the Blues’ sixth straight league win at the Riverside Stadium and has expressed his happiness at forcing his way into Conte’s plans.

“We showed good character from the start, we had a few chances in the first half which we should have taken.

“In the second half, they came at us and we were strong at the back. We did very well today.

“I am delighted and excited to be in the first 11, the new manager wants to give the youngsters an opportunity to express themselves.

“The top is very tight. The Premier League is a hard season and we want to take each game as it comes.”

It was a battling three points for the visitors and they owe the victory to striker Diego Costa as he took advantage of ball watching from the Boro defenders following a corner to break the deadlock in the first-half and become the first player to reach double figures for goals this season.

Without European competition, Conte’s men are not in action again until next weekend when they host Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge in an eagerly anticipated London derby.

Spurs are the only unbeaten side in the top flight after their dramatic 3-2 win over West Ham at White Hart Lane on Saturday, but the Blues haven’t as much as conceded a goal in the league since September therefore the upcoming meeting should be fascinating.
