Wenger reveals he hasn’t spoken to Wilshere since he left Arsenal

Arsene Wenger has revealed he hasn’t spoken to Jack Wilshere since he left Arsenal this summer.

The injury-plagued England midfielder made the decision to leave the Emirates in favour of spending the season on loan at Bournemouth.

Wilshere has impressed on the south coast but will miss the reunion with his parent club this weekend as he’s ineligible.

And Wenger has revealed that while he is keeping tabs on his midfield man while he’s away he hasn’t spoken to him since he left.

“I ask every week how did he play but I haven’t spoken to him,” said Wenger. “I am happy that he has had no injuries since he left us.

“I leave him to talk to his manager. When I can watch him, I do watch him.

“I’m happy that Wilshere develops well, in the end it was a good decision. He gets regular football, getting stronger every week.”

Wenger also hinted that the 24-year-old will be offered a new deal in the near future.

“Ideally [it will be addressed before next summer],” he added. “We have to plan around the new year.”

Despite no goals or assists since arriving at Dean Court, manager Eddie Howe has raved about his impact.

“His quality on the ball, his technical ability, is second to none,” Eddie Howe claimed whilst speaking to Sky Sports.

“And I think he is so comfortable he’s made us a totally different team with the ball.”
